Game Day Week 5

Inactives for today's game vs the Buffalo Bills

49ers

Brandon Jacobs
AJ Jenkins
LaMichael James
Scott Tolzien
Trenton Robinson
Joe Looney
Ian Williams

The only surprise of this group is Brandon Jacobs, and it should only be a mild surprise since Anthony Dixon has the same role in the offense and is a major contributor on special teams.  The emergence of Garret Celek the last 2 weeks also makes finding a spot for Jacobs difficult.

Bills

Tarvaris Jackson
Johnny White
Delano Howell
Kirk Morrison
Kraig Urbik
Cordy Glenn
Spencer Johnson.

Notes:

  • Aldon Smith needs 1.5 sacks to break Reggie White's sack era record for fewest games to reach 20 career sack.  Can he take advantage of Cordy Glenn being out to reach this milestone?
  • ESPN's Mike Sando reports that the 49ers have been one of the worst defenses in the NFL this year when teams face 3rd & 8 or longer.  Opposing QB's have completed 66% of their throws for an average of 9.1 yards per attempt and a QB Rating of 114.1 in this situation.
  • Also from Sando, Fitzpatrick has thrown all seven of his interception's against teams sending 4 or fewer rushers.  The 49ers have picked off 21 passes since the beginning of last season when sending four or fewer rushers, 3rd best in the league.
