49ers Activate Michael Crabtree

The 49ers have activated Michael Crabtree to their 53 man roster.  To make room for Crabtree they released third string quarterback McLoed Bethel-Thompson.

Jim Harbaugh has stated that he expects Crabtree to play on Sunday when the 49ers take on the St Louis Rams at Candlestick Park.

The return of Crabtree could be a big boost for Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers passing game.  In the 10 games after Kaepernick took over Crabtree had 61 catches for 880 yards and 8 touchdown passes, and Kaepernick had a rating of 130.4 on passes targeted in his direction.

What type of contribution do you think Crabtree will be able to make?

  1. I enjoy your football observations, though sometimes your stuff is a bit advanced for me. So anyway my two cents is that I don't think Crabtree will make a big contribution given that he's going to be a bit rusty. Usually it takes performers a bit of time to get up to speed in any profession. Seattle is going to be tough in his 2nd game so I'd figure his 3rd game will let us know if he's back. I notice that you and Grant Cohn have sometimes have little flame spats on his blog. They are kind of fun to read . Anyway my specific question is in your opinion who is responsible for the late hikes. Is it Kaepernick or the coaches? Its seems a bit counterproductive for an inexperienced quarterback to have to rush things.

  2. Grant is a real good guy, we just don't always see things eye to eye.

The late snaps are a mostly on the coaches and related to their scheme. The 49ers and Stanford still run the same offenses with similar approaches to play calling and I have noticed Stanford having the same issues at times this year.
